In SoccerJournal we believe that soccer has a strong commitment with the community, giving back to youth and supporting vulnerable groups. Soccer teams and leagues in the U.S. have programs dedicated to addressing important social issues and improving communities, some other organizations work independently to the league or teams, like Street Soccer USA, they are a non-profit organization that utilizes the sport of soccer to help people facing homelessness, poverty and other challenges in their lives. The organization aims to empower individuals to make positive changes in their lives through the sport, by providing them with opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and community building. Street Soccer USA’s programs aim to promote physical activity, teamwork, and goal-setting skills, as well as to encourage participants to pursue their dreams and overcome obstacles.
Last September 10th, 2022, we had the chance to be present in their youth cup competition in New York City, the Street Soccer USA Times Square Cup, a tournament held in the heart of Manhattan as part of the Street Soccer USA Cup series, with the purpose of celebrating and grow the soccer culture in the United States, while raising funds and awareness for Street Soccer USA year-round programming that makes soccer accessible to vulnerable neighborhoods across the country. This editions marked the relaunch of the program for the first time since the Covid 19 pandemic. SSUSA Youth cup was presented by Borussia Dortmund, the German Bundesliga club. This is an example of a perfect partnership.
In the case of Street Soccer USA this partnership increased their credibility: A partnership with a well-respected club like Borussia Dortmund can increase their reputation gaining awareness and in the other hand for BVB is an strategic alliance giving them an Increased exposure: By partnering with SSUSA, both brands can expand their reach and gain exposure to new audiences, what better than having a soccer field in the middle of Time Square on a Saturday morning with hundred thousand visitors walking around and participating in the event. Great for both brands, we love to see non-profit organizations like Street Soccer USA that are making huge impact in the community with soccer, and prestigious clubs like BVB, bringing support with resources for a better soccer family in the United States.
